Financial Hardship - Rates & General Debtors

The District Council of Ceduna is committed to supporting ratepayers and general debtors who are experiencing financial hardship, by establishing a mutually acceptable payment plan to clear outstanding and ongoing Council debts.

Council has adopted a Financial Hardship - Council Rates & General Debtors policy, which applies to all Council rates, service charges and general debtors.

The Policy outlines guidelines for the Financial Hardship applications:

  • Council will consider the postponement of Council Rates for up to 6 months, on an applicants principal place of residence and/or principal place of business (including single farm enterprise assessments) only. Investment properties will not be considered.
  • Council will consider waiving of fines and/or interest on current or future debts.
  • Council will not undertake any debt recovery actions if an financial hardship agreement is entered into.
  • All applications for hardship are strictly confidential.

All applications will be assessed on a case by case basis.
