All persons presenting material at the site should seek direction from the site attendant before waste or recyclable materials are removed from the vehicle.
Many recyclable items can be disposed of at the refuse site for free provided they are brought to the site in a condition that is suitable for recycling.
To qualify as recyclable, materials must be segregated and free from contamination however mixed loads may be classified as recyclable if segregated on site by the disposer, to the satisfaction of the site attendant. The more recyclables you sort out the less it will cost to dispose of your load.

New Fees & Charges for the Ceduna Landfill were implemented on the 3 November 2025: Landfill Fees & Charges
Disposal fees can be paid by cash or EFTPOS.
Council has also started a Landfill Coupon system for eligible ratepayers, more details below.
...................
From 1 January 2025, the District Council of Ceduna took over collecting all fees at the Ceduna Landfill. Previously, the landfill manager collected these fees directly.
Council has always been responsible for the full cost of running the landfill – including state government levies, management fees, and the construction of new landfill cells. With Council now collecting all landfill fees directly and introducing a new fee structure, the landfill can operate in a way that covers its own costs.
Why Have the Fees Increased?
If the old fees stayed the same, council rates would subsidise the landfill operations for over $500,000 each year to keep it running.
That’s why Council has adopted a user pays system – so that only people using the landfill pay for it, especially those who don’t live or operate in the Council area.
When Do the New Fees Start?
The new Ceduna Landfill Fees & Charges will begin on Monday 3 November 2025.
On this date, EFTPOS payment will also be available at the landfill for your convenience.
Free Landfill Coupons for Ratepayers
To help with the change, Council is giving 2 free landfill coupons to eligible ratepayers.
Each coupon is worth $38.50, which covers the cost of disposing of a 6x4 trailer load of waste. That’s a total value of $77.00 per eligible property.
Who gets the coupons?
You will receive coupons if:
- You own a rateable property,
- You pay a Fixed Charge on your rates, and
- Your property does not receive a mandatory rebate (such as some community or charitable organisations).
Coupons:
- Will be valid for one financial year only,
- Can be used both at once or one at a time.
What This Means for You
- The landfill will now operate without needing extra money from rates.
- People who use the landfill pay for it.
- Ratepayers get some cost relief through free coupons.
- Council can keep funding other important community services and projects.
If you would like to take advantage of the Landfill Coupon Program or if you would like to discuss the changes to Landfill Fees please contact the Council Office on 08 8625 3407 or email council@ceduna.sa.gov.au
drumMUSTER was developed with the Australian Enviroment in mind, this program collects eligible, pre-cleaned agricultural and veterinary containers.
The program is supported by agvet chemical manufacturers, industry stakeholders which include member and farming associations and the state and local governments.
Working with local councils and collection agencies over Australia since 1998, the program has recycled 20 million containers, approximately 30,000 tonnes. Once the drums have been collected from their collection points they are the transferred to recycling factories and made into reusable products such as, wheelie – bins, road signs, fence posts and bollards and who knows what else as the use of recycled products grows.
Many are involved in this project, manufacturers, collection agencies/counsils, inspectors and community groups, processors, Agvet stores, farmers and chemical users.
