 LOCATION

Ceduna is 780 km west of Adelaide on Highway One and 480 km east of the Western Australian border. The road surface is bitumen but there are many dirt roads in the district. Be aware of wildlife and straying stock as you drive across the Nullarbor.

 FLIGHTS AND BUS SERVICE

Flights operate every day from Adelaide and a bus service runs daily. Check at Ceduna Visitor Information Centre. Four Wheel Drive and Car Hire are available in the town.

 POPULATION

The district has a population of around 3500.

 DRIVING

The driving speed limit is 110 kph on open stretches of road, 80 kph in buffer zones approaching townships and 50 kph for towns. The wearing of seatbelts is compulsory. An alcohol limit of .05 is strictly enforced. It is an offence to use hand held mobile phones while driving.

 DRY AREA

Ceduna is a Dry Area, which means that it is an offence to consume alcohol in a public place. Alcohol purchased from a liquor outlet must be in a closed, sealed bag or box.

 CLIMATE

With an annual rainfall of only 275 mm, there are blue skies most of the year, with generally mild winters. A dry atmosphere lessens the effect of those days that are over 40ºC and the cooler summer evenings are a delight, especially when you can spend them by the beach. Boisterous beginnings usually soften to calmer evenings, while warm days often bring afternoon sea breezes. Please don't forget to 'slip, slop, slap!'

Beach  SUN PROTECTION

This region enjoys plenty of sunshine and beaches. To avoid sun damage wear a broad-brimmed hat, a shirt with collar and sleeves and SPF 15+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen on exposed skin. Try to avoid the sun during the middle of the day.

 BEACHES

Our beaches are ideal for surfing, swimming, water-skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, sailboarding, and boating. Fishing is one of the area's biggest drawcards and the King George Whiting is a delicacy in abundance here.

 PUBLIC TOILETS

Public toilets are situated on the foreshore between the Ceduna Foreshore Caravan Park and the Ceduna Sailing Club. Public toilets opened only during business hours are situated in the Ceduna Visitors Centre.

 BARBECUE

A gas barbecue is available for you to cook a meal overlooking the sea, on the lawns near the Ceduna Foreshore Caravan Park.
