Identifying Environmental Assets for Bushfire Management Area Plans

Identifying Environmental Assets for Bushfire Management Area Plans

The Bushfire Management Committees (BMCs) across the state are seeking community input to identify environmental assets at risk from bushfire so we can plan to protect them.

During an eight-week period, commencing on the 15th January 2018, community members and community groups are encouraged to nominate environmental assets to be assessed for risks from bushfire. Community members can volunteer location-based information through an online survey via the Atlas of Living Australia website Click here: ‘Environmental assets at risk of bushfire’.

An environmental asset could be a plant or animal species, a habitat or an individual landscape.  It could be on private or public land or a mix of both.

Further information is below.  For more information regarding the online survey contact the DEWNR Fire Management Team on 8124 4833 or email Damon.Ezis@sa.gov.au

Once assets have been identified and assessed this information will be reviewed by each BMC, incorporated into the BMC’s Bushfire Management Area Plan and an additional period of public consultation will be conducted.
